Tea Rooms

You’ll find traditional home-cooked food such as savoury dishes, puddings and cakes with a Warm Welsh welcome in our tea rooms. Here’s a selection of tea rooms across Wales.

North Wales

  • Beau's Tea Rooms, Beaumaris
    A grade II listed building holds a vintage feel with a dolls house crowning the fireplace.  The Tea Rooms serve drinks using vintage china cups and tea post. Much local produce is used and there are plently of homemade cakes to choose from.
  • Cemlyn Tea Shop, Harlech
    Relax with tea and home-made cake on the terrace with stunning views of Cardigan Bay, Snowdonia and Harlech Castle.  You can buy a selection of teas, coffees, locally made preserves and chutneys to take home with you too.  
  • Characters Tea House, Llandudno
    Relax in a family run old boutique style teahouse which aims to offer the warmth and comfort of your own home.  It also offer you the chance to take a look at the quirky items for sale.
  • EmzCakes Creative Cafe and Tea Room, Wrexham
    Located in Wrexham town centre, the tearoom offers fresh food baked daily on the premises.  Their speciality is their cakes and afternoon tea.  All dietary requirements can be catered for.
  • Java Square Bistro and Coffee Bar, Rhuddlan
    A boutique bistro with indoor and outdoor seating located in the historical town of Rhuddlan.  Extensive menu including brunch, speciality sandwiches and a variety of afternoon teas to choose from.
  • Llangollen Wharf Tea Rooms, Llangollen
    Enjoy home-made cakes and tea whilst watching the horse-drawn boats glide by. 
  • Sugarplum Tea Room, nr. Ruthin
    Enjoy the food and drink on offer in the colourful vintage retro tea room located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Booking is essential.
  • Tu Hwnt i'r Bont, Llanrwst
    The award-winning Ty Hwnt i'r Bont is situated on the banks of the river Conwy by Inigo James Bridge and is the perfect photo-stop and possibly the most photographed building in North Wales. Home-made Bara Brith (speckled bread) and Welsh Cakes are a speciality. It can cater for larger groups.
  • Tŷ Hyll – The Ugly House, nr. Betws-y-Coed
    Learn about the historical cottage, its legends and how it was built, discover the word of honey bees and enjoy homemade local food in the cosy Pot Mêl (Honey Pot) tea room. It’s really quirky, not ugly! You could choose to walk from Betws-y-Coed, passing Swallow Falls to build up an appetite! It would take around 1 hour.

Mid Wales

  • Bay Tree Vintage Tea Room, Welshpool
    A vintage tea room where it feels like you've stepped back in time upon entering.  Serves speciality tea and home made cakes as well as meals.
  • Cwtch Cafe and Tea Rooms, Builth Wells
    A family run coffee shop serving home made cakes and food in the heart of Builth Wells. Won the best café award at the Food Awards Wales 2017.
  • Drovers Rest Tea Room, Llanwrtyd Wells
    Situated on the River Irfon, the Drovers Rest is in the heart of the town square and is opposite it's Red Kite sculpture.
  • The Old Stables Tea Room, Hay-on-Wye
    The Old Stables is well-known for their biggest toasted tea-cakes in Wales. It offers 37 different teas and they may their own cakes and preserves. It has been decorated with old advertisements, weighing scales and all kinds of memorabilia.


  • The Old Swan Tea Rooms, Rhayader
    The original building dates back to the 17th century and was once a chemist, grocer and fishmonger.  Now the tea room serves lunches teas and drinks including home made cakes and pasties.
  • Pilgrims Tea Room, Brecon Cathedral
    A licenced restaurant and café situated in the 15th century cloisters and in the summer you can sit out in the pretty herb garden.
  • Wye Knot Stop Tea Room, Llyswen, Brecon
    Located between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon, great reviews for their cream-tea with home-made scones. They sell local honey, jams, marmalade, chutney, cards, photographs, paintings and ordnance survey maps.

South Wales

  • Parc Pantry, Malpas and Bellevue Park, Newport
    Both tea rooms provide a menu sourced from local and fresh ingredients.  At Malpas, you can buy anything from the store, and that's not just their signature smoothies, but also the lighting and furniture, and anything else on display.  Bellevue Park provides a scenic setting to enjoy with your cup of tea in this historic victorian tea room.
  • Penygawse Tea Room, Llandovery
    Watch the world go by at this Victorian tea room positioned on the entry of Llandovery town.
  • Pettigrew Tea Rooms, Cardiff
    This quaint tea room is located at the main entrance to Bute Park in the heart of the city. Their big selection of cakes are very tempting. There’s a small Welsh gift shop too.
