Wanderlust has named Snowdonia as the Top UK Destination in the Reader Travel Awards 2017.

The multi-award winning magazine for adventurous and authentic travel described it as “a place for gasping at its weather-beaten landscapes” and perfect for stargazing due to its Dark Sky Reserve award.

Pembrokeshire came in a close second which both knocked the Lake District off its consistently held top spot.

It praises the Year of Adventure for highlighting what Wales has to offer for its “active and intrepid readers”.

The award comes hot off the heels of Snowdonia’s recent recognition of being named in the top 10 world’s best drives.
